Whether we’ve been connected for ten years or you’re exploring my work for the first time, welcome to my new portfolio! Any creative who’s had to face the massive undertaking of switching sites, digging through countless projects for the ones that shine brightest, and rebuilding their portfolio anew has my utmost sympathy. I somehow managed to get it done while also working full-time and caring for my newborn. Can’t say I recommend that route; it might be 2:00AM as I’m writing this intro post.
But a portfolio, for all its pains, is of the utmost importance to a creative professional. It is an important showcase of the things we’re most proud of—or perhaps, the things that taught us the most. Maybe both?
In my portfolio, you’ll find a colorful campaign that took me 3 months and lots of computer crashes to see through to completion. Note to self: don’t attempt that many drop-shadow layers in Illustrator on your already-overloaded school computer. If you do, at least save the files regularly so you don’t have to start from scratch twice.
You’ll also find a monochrome eight-panel exhibition titled “Let There Be Light.” This was a special project that I was assigned during the pandemic—not only did I design, produce and install the exhibition, but I also conducted the research, wrote the copy, and had it reviewed by faculty members in the BYU Science and Religion departments. Thoughtfully bringing a dark, eclipsing expanse into a bright snow-capped peak was one of the best design experiences of my career thus far.
And of course, my portfolio just wouldn’t be complete without some of my favorite and most recent projects—editorial layouts for the internal magazines at Melaleuca. I’ve always been drawn to publication design: typesetting large amounts of text and interior page design elements that are minimalist, subtle, but so defining for a reader’s experience. I think that readers spend more hours with printed designs than perhaps any other group. Every dot and line counts toward their experience.
With those materials and many more under my belt, I’m happy to have finally reached this point. This portfolio has, day by day and project by project, become one that I am immensely proud of. It’s a work that I love and an art I deeply respect. Very grateful for the opportunity the revamp has given me to reflect on how far my design work has come! I will be striving to maintain the content here as it becomes pertinent to share.
Thanks for being here. If you’ve got a design project in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out; I’m booking clients for 2025! Otherwise, happy portfolio exploring.
